Jor'Daan Ri'Zaak
Background
- Lived in a Good Stone dwarf clan for the first 70 years of his life. The clan was nestled deep under the Napagalo Hills region, however it was not uncommon to have dealings with good people on the surface. Jor'Daan served many terms within the military of his clan, as do all who come of age.
- Jor'Daan's clan was destroyed in an unprovoked attack from dark elves and a rival clan of evil Stone dwarves. Most of the clan was decimated and Jor'Daan led a vigilant defense, however, the sheer numbers and ferocity of the attack was too much and the remaining defenders were scattered into the dark. While Jor'Daan survived for many days, he was eventually captured by the evil stone dwarves and kept as a slave
- Served as tunneler/hard laborer (Strength, tunnel fighting, hand-axe)
- many stone dwarves that were captured died at the hands of dark elves, trogs (LG philosophy, battle the oppressed)
- through all he witnessed, prayers were unaswered and the deities of Tellene were forsaken, looked inward (Wisdom, No Deity)
- In service to dark elves for almost 50 years (Undercommon language, fighting skills)
- His 3rd dark elf master eventually sold him to surface hobgoblins for profit.
- Treatment of him was initially worse with the hobgoblins and this caused him to be more combative. These skills were noticed by his handlers.
- Gradually moved into gladitorial combat where he was not given weapons (Unarmed Combat, Improved Grapple)
- He fought with honor, which impressed the hobgoblins and they eventually allowed him to use weapons (Hand-Axe, Two Weapon fighting)
- He learned that through combat he could earn respect and he became more introverted, instead observing his opponents to learn weaknesses and gain advantage of surroundings.
- Met another gladiator, a half-hobgoblin, that befriended him and began to teach him to focus his energy and look inward for strength. This man was named Kulak-Tak-Mari, and he took it upon himself to focus the raw training and emotion of Jor'DaanTake what he knows and use it, hone it (Meditate feat, listen, spot, escape artist skills)
- This friend began to teach him martial skills and he learned to use these skills to his advantage
Jor'Daan's Travel Journal
Session 1
Where do I begin? What words could possible explain how I found myself face down on a cart, making my way from the City of Thieves to some unknown destination to the north. My day was like any other of the previous days that have come and gone these past 110 years since I lost everything. My fortunes changed on a wager by some human I have never met prior to this day. Kalan was, is, his name. I still travel with him despite the fact that through some other twist of fate, my freedom was purchased by another man I have never met. An elf, grey elf, by his own description, though I have never met one before this, purchased me on loan to the human whelp and then set me free. But, are any of us truly free? What emotions could I try to pull from my own, stony heart, to try and explain this day. This marvelous, dangerous day that saw my fortunes change. I suppose that shall have to try...
